CRAFTING CONDITIONS FOR DECENTRING SCHOLARSHIP AND PEDAGOGY IN DRAMA, THEATRE, PERFORMANCE STUDIES AND DANCE


Bonnie Dukakis is a proud Gunditjmara woman born and raised on GunaiKurnai Country in Gippsland, now living and working on Wurundjeri Country in Melbourne. Bonnie has spent the past seven years working with Aboriginal community predominantly in justice settings, previously directly with young people within youth justice centres.

Now as Deputy Executive Officer with the Koorie Youth Council, Bonnie is passionate about advocating to advance the rights and representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people living in Victoria.

In 2015 Bonnie completed her National Accreditation in Mediation with an aim to support alternative dispute resolution processed for Aboriginal community and support young people in the process. In 2016 she had the opportunity to complete the Malka Shield Koorreen Trainer course with Koorreen Enterprises; Richard Frankland and has since worked closely with Koorreen on a number of projects including Aboriginal Dispute Resolution Processes.

Bonnie is passionate about learning and providing opportunities for the next generation, particularly around the work of cultural strengthening, community capacity building and role of young people in this work.
