CRAFTING CONDITIONS FOR DECENTRING SCHOLARSHIP AND PEDAGOGY IN DRAMA, THEATRE, PERFORMANCE STUDIES AND DANCE


Tom Molyneux is a Gunditjmara theatre actor, director and playwright based in Geelong, Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Performing Arts from Monash University, a Graduate Certificate of Management from the Australian Institute of Business and a Master of Business (Arts and Cultural Management) from Deakin University. 

Tom has an extensive history of work in successful independent and touring theatre productions, including as an actor and director in ‘Stardust + The Mission’, which extensively toured regional Victoria in 2019 to great acclaim and is touring nationally around Australia in 2022. He devised and acted in the Green Room Award nominated production ‘The Nose’ by The Bloomshed, which won the Festival Director’s Pick at the 2017 Sydney Fringe Festival and has toured to Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Geelong. ‘The Ministry’ (2015 – directed by Anna Nalpantidis), in which Tom was an actor and assistant director, won the 2015 Melbourne Fringe award for Best Live Art. He also played a lead role in web series ‘Nefarious: The Tinder Games’ which won Best Comedy and Best TV/Web Series at the GO Independent Film Festival in Washington DC.

Tom is currently the Manager, Indigenous Inclusion at Deakin University, where he is responsible for developing and implementing a range of strategies and initiatives to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff, including a large transformation project to embed Indigenous Knowledges and perspectives into all courses.

He was previously a director on the Board of Management for Platform Youth Arts (formerly Courthouse Youth Arts) in Geelong from 2017-2020, and is now a Board Member at Regional Arts Victoria (RAV). Tom has been a peer assessor for the Australia Council for the Arts and Creative Victoria, and currently sits on the Deakin University Arts and Cultural Management Advisory Board.
